I am a Slipcaster
Slipcasting is a technique used for the accurate reproduction of ceramic work, and especially for shapes not easily made on a wheel.
A liquid clay slurry is usually poured into plaster moulds to form a layer on the inside cavity of the mould and the finished piece is formed once the plaster has absorbed enough liquid from the slurry, leaving a hardened clay skin around the interior of the mould.
After starting out my Clay life throwing pots on the wheel and becoming enthralled with clay, and in particular with glaze, I eventually came to realize that for me the missing ingredient was design.
I enjoy the ability to create pieces that evolve from ideas and create their own space in the world. I believe that design has the power to make pieces which have everyday useability and yet at the same time bring joy and beauty. I try to create each piece with that purpose in mind
